About the role
The Big Data Developer will work as part of a collaborative agile team comprised of business SMEs, test analysts and developers that sprints at a two-weekly cadence. They will be working across the business and engaging with multiple stakeholders to gather organisation requirements and translate business performance and reporting systems. This role is part of an Agile team building a modern scalable and flexible microservices architecture to support the future vision of our company.
The successful candidate will be experienced in working on scalable distributed applications and be able to contribute to technology choices.
The role will involve:
- Working as part of the DevOps team, ensuring Big Data software is designed, developed and tested in line with Agile/DevOps practices and modern software engineering principles to optimise velocity and quality.
- Working to tight timescales and on prioritised Features/User Stories, being supported by a Product Owner, Scrum Master and the wider team.
- Working in collaboration with internal teams to embed a Data and BI driven culture.
- Sharing and implementing best practices.
You will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities that fall within your capabilities as directed by management.
About you
The successful candidate will take pride in delivery, continuous improvement and capability development. Their background will include:
Essential:
- 5 years' C# experience.
- 5 years' Data Warehousing (Kimball).
- 3 - 5 years' Big Data and Streaming Data (Kafka).
- GIT experience.
- Azure DevOps.
- Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
- Strong experience of NoSQL database (Mongo).
- Demonstrate knowledge and capability across SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
- Strong technical experience using Kafka and REST API development skills.
- Experienced in working with agile delivery framework (Scrum with 2-week sprints).
- Degree or equivalent qualification - preferably maths, science, computer science or similar.
