Job Description
My client based in Preston are looking for a Business Data Analyst to support a large scale data migration following the procurement of a new system which will be implemented across the Group. The focus of the role will be responsibility for defining and coordinating the artefacts (materials, documents and data) produced and identified in the migration.
The role will also be involved with the preparation, extraction, profiling, quality check, design, mapping, construct, transform and load of artefacts and datasets following the procurement of a number of new systems which are being implemented across the Group using specialised toolsets.
This role is a FTC until August 2021.

Key Accountabilities
Work in a small team focussing on the artefacts within the data migration
Identification of the artefacts in the source and target systems and the data warehouse
Applying business and data rules to artefacts
Checking for gaps in artefacts and datasets and working with the various business functions to remediate
Mapping source data to new target artefacts and datasets
Produce reports / dashboards to monitor data migration quality and progress
Construction of combined datasets in preparation for data loading
Transformation of data types to support artefacts and data load files
Creation of migration documentation to support the data migration framework
Provides support for Data & Analytics Developers as and when required with operational activity
Deals with service logs generated by the Service Desk (including troubleshooting, dealing with requests/problems or assigning to a colleague in ITS as appropriate) if required
Carries out project work as required
Advises and supports other teams with project work
Complies with Group policies and GDPR requirements at all times
C. Dimensions
This role involves varying degrees of problem solving and decision making. Although mainly business facing rather than technical, the diverse range of issues will mean that decisions will need to be made within scope of the role or in conjunction with a line manager, team manager of business manager.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
Strong experience of large scale data migration
Strong experience of artefacts in the data migration process
Strong experience in gathering, analysing, and meeting business requirements
Strong knowledge of cataloguing and archiving techniques
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Strong understanding of the organisation's goals and objectives
Strong customer service orientation
Strong experience with MS Excel
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentational skills
Highly self-motivated and directed
Ability to present ideas and resolutions in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Keen attention to detail
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Experience integrating information with portals/intranets and databases advantageous
Experience of Oracle and SQL Server advantageous
Experience of BackOffice Associates products advantageous
Experience of SQL skills (PLSQL / T-SQL) advantageous
Experience of SSRS, Power BI and Business Objects advantageous
