The team is responsible for the delivery and analysis of the weekly Opinions and Lifestyle Survey, which is a main source of data for Government on the levels of compliance and behaviours around COVID-19. Our data has featured regularly in Number 10 COVID-19 press conference, has recently fed into the UK Government's COVID-19 lockdown easing roadmap and provides trusted and unique insight into well-being, work, home-schooling, social distancing, household finances and more.
Alongside COVID-19 response we play a key part of the cross-cutting analysis ONS conducts to support queries from Number 10 and Cabinet Office. As part of the Analytical Priorities Hub, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across ONS, including colleagues in the Economic Statistics, Public Policy Analysis and the Data Science Campus. Our work is often in partnership with external departments, academics and charities, and makes use of a wide variety of data sources to quickly address policy priority questions.

* Deliver high quality statistical analysis in a clear manner (e.g., the provision of slidepacks, presenting information verbally or within published releases) to help inform debate and influence decision making.
* Work proactively with potential users to identify their requirements, share knowledge and information clearly.
* Work collaboratively and at times flexibly across the ONS, working with topic experts, survey designers, field force and data experts, as well as across other analysis teams to seek opportunities to add value and provide a quality service for users.

Person specification:
The ideal person for this role would have:

* Proven analytical experience - experience of the practical application of analysis or research techniques to provide statistics useful for the development and evaluation of policy.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills - the ability to communicate complex analysis to non-specialists and contribute effectively to discussions with policy focused users.
*Experience of working collaboratively - working flexibly with a range of colleagues to provide a high quality service to users.
*Ability to deliver analytical outputs to tight deadlines and contribute to statistical production using software commonly used in ONS such as R, SPSS or equivalent.

* An analytical background from any profession, Statistics, Economics, Social Research, Operational Research, Data Science
