SERVICE REQUIREMENT


The Integrated Data Programme (IDP) is building a digital collaborative environment that enables cross-government teams and wider communities to deliver complex analytical outcomes by bringing together analysts, data, infrastructure, information governance and domain expertise. The main objective is to unlock the vast potential of linked data to enhance decision making for the public good, providing a quality evidence base on which to improve the lives of citizens.

The Digital Economy Act (2017) enables significantly greater access to government data and offers opportunities to link these data to support new and innovative research. This will be pivotal in making a success of this legislation by realising the potential of government data to inform decision and/or policy making. To achieve the expansion of the service, the division needs to develop and strengthen strategic and collaborative relationships with government organisations, research centres and the wider research community.

As a Configuration Manager for the Integrated Data Programme (IDP) you will perform range of tasks/activities to support the smooth running/delivery of the project, supporting the project manager through the coordination or operation of various project management processes, business management actions and activities on their behalf.


TYPICAL ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Configuration Manager for the Integrated Data Programme (IDP) you will perform range of tasks/activities to support the smooth running/delivery of the project, supporting the project manager through the coordination or operation of various project management processes, business management actions and activities on their behalf.

Typical responsibilities:

* Configuration Management Process - Develop, implement, and manage Configuration Management processes for the programme or project in line with Departmental standards.

* Champion the use of best practice and provide expert advice for team members and the programme community on change management.

* Stakeholder Management - Advise stakeholders on the Configuration Management procedures in place for the project or programme, ensuring they are understood.

* Project Performance & Controls - Monitor and analyse information, reporting progress, slippage and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity.

* Auditing and Reporting - Carry out configuration verification, reviews and audits. Report on the status of items under configuration control for management.

* Guidance & Support - Provide advice on Configuration Management and Change Control processes.

* Planning and scheduling - Implementing and maintaining the appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.

* Monitoring and reporting - Establishing and maintaining project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Preparing project performance reports, presenting statistics, and researching new information.

* Admin - Ensuring organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Managing and monitor compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.

* Risks and Issues - Managing potential risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate.[BP1]


Essential Criteria

  • A proven track record of working successfully in a fast-paced Project/Programme/Portfolio or business support environment
  • Evidence of the identification and monitoring of risks, issues and linkages within strands of work, taking the appropriate action to address these effectively
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing a complex workload, prioritising and managing rapidly changing demands and priorities.
  • Clear demonstration of a focus on delivery - responding quickly and decisively to take ownership for and delivery of valued outcomes in changing circumstances and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of establishing, building and maintaining strong, collaborative and productive relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of collecting, interpreting and accurately reporting data and presenting in a coherent and effective manner to a range of audiences.
