Data Engineer

I am seeking a skilled Data Engineer with expertise in designing and implementing data solutions to join a team on a contract basis.

The contract is an initial 6 months, mostly remote – office visits once per week and paying around £500 per day, inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture & Design: Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data architectures to meet business needs.
  • ETL Process Design & Implementation: Develop robust ETL pipelines using Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks) and SSIS in Azure.
  • Database Development: Build and optimize database applications with expert-level SQL skills using Azure SQL Database.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Perform data analysis to support business decisions, and create actionable insights through Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Real-Time Data Processing: Leverage big data technologies to handle large-scale, real-time data processing.
  • Data Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain stringent data security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Senior Software Engineers, to ensure seamless data integration. Participate in three amigos sessions to ensure all technical and functional aspects are covered.
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Implement data-related CI/CD pipelines and manage version control using Git.

Requirements:

  • Data Engineering: Proven track record in data engineering and analytics, especially in cloud environments.
  • Expert SQL Skills: Proficiency in writing complex queries and optimizing database performance with Azure SQL Database.
  • ETL Expertise: Strong experience designing and implementing ETL processes and data pipelines in Azure cloud environments.
  • Power BI or BI Tools Proficiency: Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI or similar BI tools.
  • Big Data Technologies: Exposure to big data platforms and real-time data processing is an added advantage.
  • Data Security & Compliance: Knowledge of data security best practices and industry compliance standards.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
