Data Scientist
Our public sector client is looking for a Data Scientist to join the team and help them across the Data Science Campus.
Following rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), a key focus of the Data Science Campus is to ensure that we are at the forefront of identifying new developments and testing their use with the aim of have a lasting impact, including:
* Enhanced statistics resulting from higher quality input data, more robust data linkage, and improved processing
* More accessible statistics through improved dissemination to users
* A more efficient organisation across the data collection, processing, and auxiliary functions
Skills and Experience
- Programming and build: You can write and test, Python code to build data products for users. You can collaborate on code with other colleagues using version control and have an awareness of testing tools.
- Data science innovation: You can identify efficient and effective ways to use data science to tackle business and organisational challenges, applying innovative techniques where relevant.
- Applied maths, statistics, and scientific practices: You can apply mathematics and statistical methods to solve problems, conduct exploratory data analysis and hypothesis testing to draw conclusions about your work.
- Data engineering and manipulation: You have an awareness of the different tools that can be used to build data products (e.g. cloud infrastructure or software), and use effective approaches for cleaning, storing, and manipulating data.
- Experience using Google Cloud Platform with a focus on building data science tools utilising private infrastructure and controlled access.
- Experience using Generative AI with a focus on implementing the tool into software or tools that can be used by others.
Day to Day
* Write code that meets software development standards, to help solve a range of business problems
* Implement relevant data science techniques, including machine learning, as part of project
* Collaborate with others to develop fit for purpose data science solutions
* Prepare and manipulate data and perform analytics, all with appropriate quality assurance
* Present and communicate effectively
* Be aware of project delivery methods
* Create, interpret, and assure statistical outputs effectively
* Manage and use data in a way that meets ethical principles
