The Role

Based within the Finance, Planning and Performance directorate, you will form part of a project team tasked with the review and reconciliation of large volumes of corporate data obtained from 3 separate sources. You will be required to format the 3 data sets so that the raw data is transformed into a format that allows comparisons to be made, considering certain variables that will inform valid discrepancies. You will also design and introduce automation to the review and reconciliation process by using the tools and experience at your disposal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform 3 large datasets (currently held in Excel format) so that they are comparable prior to reconciliation
  • Work alongside members of the Corporate Accounts and Payroll team to document and apply factors that will inform the reconciliation process
  • Design methodology to be applied and followed by the project's reconciliation/review team
  • Maximise automation of the reconciliation/review process using tools available
  • Manage data storage so that it can be easily traced for audit purposes

Skills and Experience

  • good experience with R and / or python, especially data manipulation packages, for example pandas
  • good experience of building robust automated statistical and analytical processes (reproducible analytical pipelines), including QA and testing
  • good experience working with a team of subject matter experts to develop analytical and statistical pipelines to user requirements
  • experience of collecting, collating, cleansing, synthesising and interpreting complex data to derive meaningful and actionable insights
  • ability to log, analyse and resolve problems
  • able to work effectively in a team, to deadlines

Essentials

Desirable

  • Knowledge of corporate accounts and payroll, particularly pensions data

Security clearance required for the role

  • Security Check (SC)
