Database Administrator
The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative DevOps team comprised of Infrastructure, Environment & Release, Application Support, business SMEs, test analysts and developers that sprint at a two-weekly cadence. They will be part of an agile team who are building a modern scalable and flexible microservices architecture to support the future vision of our company. They will work across internal and external environments that are managed in-house, as well as by 3rd party suppliers.
Specialist Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
> Minimum of 4 years' experience working as a Production Database Administrator (DBA).
> Experienced in SQL Server 2014 and above, in a high-availability environment.
> Experienced in MongoDB.
> Knowledge of Data Warehousing, and ETL design and management.
> Proven record of performance tuning within an expanding and busy production environment.
> Proficient with Data migration across differing database platforms.
> Understanding of securing data between development, UAT, and other environments, and ability to understand and work within GDPR guidelines.
> Solid foundation in sizing, capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
> Solid foundation in, and understanding of, SQL patching and its relation to existing\business critical processes and applications.
> Thorough understanding of database security and its application across multiple environments.
Desirable:
> Knowledge of working on Azure DevOps.
> Experience of working in the Financial Services Sector.
> Experience\knowledge of Microsoft azure, and cloud data architecture.
> Agile Project Management (Scrum)

> To support and maintain the database infrastructure, including the delivery, support and maintenance of high availability environments.
> Investigate and resolve issues and manage them through the IT Support Desk.
> Constantly challenge existing practices and processes and suggest improvements.
> Achieve and actively maintain your skills and knowledge to adhere to the Training and Competence standards.
> Meet all Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations.
> Ensure that the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles are adhered to, supporting Customer Service improvement initiatives, raising any areas for concern with either line manager or compliance.
> Focus on developing, implementing and sharing best approach.
> Recognise the importance of working together as a team to maximise team, department and company results.
> Report risk concerns to line manager.
