Job Description

Delivery Manager
3 Months (Likely extension)
Inside IR35
£600-700 per day.
Remote for foreseeable and successful candidate can work remotely. Some office attendance may be required.

We are seeking two experienced Delivery Managers.
Role 1. The first role is required to manage the 'lift and shift' of business-critical services from SharePoint 2013 to new Microsoft technologies such as PowerApps (including Power BI) within a fixed timescale.
Role 2. For the second role we require an experienced Delivery Manager to oversee operationally live Ingres and OpenROAD systems. Current work includes supporting infrastructure upgrades, system upgrades, prioritising and managing Service Desk tickets and incidents, and acting as the central contact point between an external Managed Service and key internal business stakeholders.

Both post holders will need to have a background in Delivery Management of IT products and services using agile working practises. They will need to be focused on meeting tight delivery times and motivated by driving forward and achieving delivery at-pace.
They will also be used to working with senior internal stakeholders in a professional and collaborative way - able to mediate and improve the relationship whilst managing their expectations.
They must be able to optimise the workflow across the delivery team and articulate the delivery roadmap, milestones and key dates so that all parties (stakeholders, management and the delivery team) share a vision of what will be delivered when.
It will be essential to keep the delivery team focused on the 'Must Have' requirements and avoid and manage any scope creep. Quick wins that maximise the user experience can be considered but not at the expense of achieving the overall delivery deadline.
The Delivery Managers will need to actively identify and raise any initial delivery problems or issues within the standard agile ceremonies with the delivery team. The management of wider risks, issues and dependencies will need to be monitored via our set 'Project Management Office' (PMO) process.
The post holders will not have line management but will head up and drive the matrixed delivery team which contains a mix of internal and contract people including architects, product owners, software engineers.
Knowledge of the Government's digital service standards and technology code of practice is useful.
The Delivery Managers will:

  • Be accountable for the delivery of the Microsoft PowerApps into service.
  • Build and maintain motivated matrixed teams, making sure there is an iterative plan with clear milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensure the delivery team collaborates, communicates and focuses on what is a 'must have' deliverable (via the usual Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning etc).
  • Proactively manage dependencies, overcome obstacles and get the best value against constraints.
  • Work in collaboration with our internal stakeholders to build their confidence in the delivery of their products and services
  • Keep drive forward the overarching roadmap ensure that senior DST stakeholders are appraised of any risks or issues that could impact on delivery dates.

  • Deadline driven with an enthusiasm for delivering at pace

Desirable Skills

  • Role 1 - Knowledge of Sharepoint 2013, and Microsoft PowerApps would be a distinct advantage
