The suitable applicant will have:

- Held the position of Head of Development or similar position in an SME environment

- A Proven track record of success as a leader of software engineering teams, managing the Product Development lifecycle for enterprise software application products

- A Balance of business and technical experience to the point where technical skills can be used to define a clear development strategy whilst able to see this strategy clearly in terms of the overall business

- Experience running an agile development organisation is essential, with Scrum experience highly preferred

- Excellent communication skills - with the board, across the business as a whole and with external stakeholders

On a day to day basis you will be:

- Enabling strategic planning to achieve business goals by ensuring appropriate development estimates are fed into the overall planning process

- Ensuring technical requirements are appropriately represented within the overall product specification and delivery process

- Putting in place and maintaining processes to allow effective and visible development and QA functions

- Achieve Key Performance Indicators for the development organisation that include budget, delivery, and staff utilisation rate metrics

- Effective stakeholder management internally (e.g. sales, operations, product management, QA, technical architecture, etc.) and externally (major customers)

- Providing performance reviews and professional development support to direct reports
