Junior Data Engineer (Python, Spark, SQL)

*** Must be eligible for SC Clearance, must have lived in the UK for the past 5 years ***

• 1-2 years work experience preferable
• Remote working in the UK
• HEO, £18 - £20 per hour, 37 hours a week.
• Contractor post, Inside IR35
• After all tax deductions, £1900/£2000 per month net pay estimate
• 3 months initially
• Deadline: 12 noon 26th April 2022

TYPICAL ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The type of activities you will be involved in include:
* Working with other developers to implement the design pipeline from the ETL of the data at ingest
through to the creation of the final analytical dataset
* Ensuring that pipelines can be easily maintained, adapted and re-run should data quality be identified
* Ensuring consistency between pipelines by following any associated standards
* Addressing blockers, actively seeking solutions to remove them, and proposing alternative routes to
delivery
* Promoting a frequent incremental delivery approach

Person Specification
criteria:

* Experience delivering to tight timescales and working with conflicting priorities;
* Ability to identify the root cause of data quality issues and communicating these with data providers;
* Confident engaging customers, users and analysts;
* Proficient at working with data in Python;
* An understanding of SQL, particularly in the context of analysing data;
* Familiarity with distributed data tools such as Spark;
* Familiarity with Agile software practices, including Git version control and Jira project management.
