Job Description

Organisational Development Practitioner
6 Months
Inside IR35. Open to daily/hourly rates.
Remote for foreseeable. Hybrid working approach when safe. Glasgow or Edinburgh office base.

  • To work with the business to assess and implement systemic change that enables the organisation to meet future delivery requirements.
  • To influence and empower others to embed OD/change management tools and techniques across the organisation;
  • To consult with internal stakeholders to scope, design and facilitate business and people interventions that create positive impact;
  • To work harmoniously and collegiately within multi disciplinary teams enabling business areas to implement and embed change initiatives that support achievement of their outcomes
  • To embody an OD philosophy within RoS, enabling continuous improvement at an organisational level;
  • To work with the organisation to systemically assess the impact of factors such as culture, behaviour, attitudes, organisational design etc. on the organisation's ability to deliver our Corporate Plan and design and implement interventions as appropriate;
  • To support and develop the practice of OD Practitioners within the Performance & Change Team. as well as encouraging OD skill and systems thinking within the wider People & Change function

Organisational Development and Design

  • Lead and support the management of systemic change through the application of OD/change management approaches, diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Design and recommend suitable organisational design models and approaches which meet the needs of the future organisation.
  • Analyse, identify, and utilise design options relating to organisational structures and relationships as appropriate.
  • Scope, design and facilitate a range of business and people-related interventions that create improved business alignment to our future ambitions.
  • Develop and manage key stakeholder relationships skilfully, in order to meet desired organisational outcomes.
  • Collect and analyse data and work with the organisation to identify appropriate interventions that improve performance.
  • Evaluate and report on the ROI and impact of OD/change management interventions

Developing others

  • Advise, coach and mentor other practitioners within and beyond the OD function about the practical application of OD/change management tools and techniques
  • Advise, coach and influence key stakeholders across the organisation on the benefits and positive impact of embracing and embedding an OD approach.

Essential Skills

  • CIPD qualified or another relevant qualification in Organisational Development and/or Organisational Design/Technical OD knowledge and experience
  • Excellent communicator who is dedicated to a collaborative and collegiate approach, challenging when necessary, to foster and maintain productive relationships and influence people at all levels of an organisation in order to achieve OD objectives
  • Able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the impact of organisational culture on engagement and performance, and significant experience in influencing/managing cultural change in line with business strategy objectives
  • Understanding of change management and ability to align people strategies/approaches to support and enable the transformation of our organisation, providing decisive responses to delivery challenges. Ability to train, coach and mentor colleagues working within an OD/change management space. Able to demonstrate project management within an OD/change management space.
  • Ability to lead a variety of simultaneous projects and initiatives, influencing and building credibility across the organisation by ensuring delivery of outcomes

Desirable Skills

  • Accreditation in the use of change methodology
  • Previous experience of working within a large public sector organisation.
