Job Description

Programme Support Officer - Central Government

  • DBS check before starting
  • Remote working
  • £25/£27 per hour Inside IR35 (£2500/£2600 take home pay after all tax deductions)
  • 37 hours per week
  • 6 months
  • Deadline 12 noon 12th April 2022

Responsibilities

* Ensure systems are in place to enable effective planning and scheduling
* Manage programme controls, reporting to the Programme/PMO Manager about the programme status.
* Develop programme performance reports
* Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage compliance of the programme with
Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business
Planning.
* Lead a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources. Manage workforce
planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Programme/PMO Manager
Procurement of supplies and services related to programme support within Delegated Financial
Authority limits.
* Manage and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Draft and sign-off
correspondence.
* Manage programme spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets. Contribute to the programme
business case
* Lead potential risk areas, working with risk manager and escalating as appropriate
Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

* Adept in providing secretariat support for governance boards. Ability to identify, develop and share
best practice project management processes, tools and templates and benchmarks against industry
standards. Able to provide direction and guidance to the project teams.
* An expert in complex planning activities including the identification of dependencies. Effective at
participating in cross-organisation planning exercises and communicating portfolio level progress
reports. An expert in the establishment, and implementation of change protocols.
* An expert in linking milestones to the realisation of benefits across large-scale change programmes.
Able to establish programme processes and standards for managing risks and issues, in line with
corporate policy.
* Good understanding and application of the identification, recruitment, development, deployment, and
reassignment of resources throughout the project lifecycle. Adept at developing and agreeing budgets
for change initiatives and controlling forecasts and actual costs against them.
* Adept at establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of change initiatives,
defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice. Good
understanding and practical application of assurance activities.
