Software Development Manager - AWS / PHP / Node.js


Circa £90,000

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful health tech business in Reading who are seeking a Software Development Manager. You will lead projects, drive innovation, and provide both man-management and technical leadership to their software development and DevOps functions.

As this role involves leading teams of PHP Developers, a background in PHP is ideal. Other tech being used here includes NodeJS, PHP, APIs, microservices, AWS & CI/CD.

Hybrid remote working in on offer with 2-3 days a to be spent at their Reading location.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to understand business goals and ensure the development teams, technical architects, Scrum Master and business are aligned
  • Maintaining the Roadmap, plan for team growth and scalability
  • Taking ownership of releases, including coordinating with teams to ensure correct process and governance is followed
  • Coordination with DevOps, testers, and infrastructure team to ensure infrastructure, environments and services are consistent and available
  • Fostering a culture of effective communication between development teams and between technology, business and operations
  • Line managing and mentoring team members

Essential skills:

  • Familiarity with technologies including NodeJS, PHP, APIs, microservices, AWS & CI/CD
  • Line management experience
  • Experience working in an agile business focused environment
  • Having managed teams for greenfield projects with company growth in mind
  • Good understanding of software design patterns
  • Good understanding of non-functional requirements (security, performance etc)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with colleagues who need encouragement and coaching to learn new technologies
