Statistical Production Analyst
Our public sector client is looking for a number of Statistical Production Analysts to join the team and aid with the production, planning and co-ordination of statistical outputs. You will be responsible for producing economic statistics and effective quality assurance of statistical outputs, managing stakeholders involved in the production process, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring continuous development of the methods, sources and production processes underpinning economic statistics.
Skills and Experience
Production of statistics
- Contribute towards the data production process, with responsibility over specific aspects of statistical output and an understanding of the impact beyond their immediate area.
- Ensure thorough quality assurance of data, dealing with respondent queries, liaising with stakeholders to address issues, and resolving and escalating issues as appropriate.
Stakeholder engagement and communication
- Engage with stakeholders, proactively communicating issues as they arise. Ensure data deliveries meet agreed timetables.
Management of resources
- Manage own time, prioritise own and others’ workloads and performance management
Analysis of data
- Develop subject matter expertise.
- Understand data sets and use basic tools to carry out analysis to identify data movements and quality assure data.
- Understand and apply programming languages to process, analyse and quality assure data.
Communication of statistics
- Identify and communicate trends, movements and anomalies in the statistics to more senior members of the branch and other teams within the organisation.
- Communicate using a range of channels including written briefings.
- Handle and answer customer queries and escalate queries to relevant teams as appropriate.
Leadership
- Able to ensure their team has a clear understanding of their objectives and timeframes
- Able to explain how their team’s work fits in to the wider area
- Is an effective role model (leads by example, is approachable, shows enthusiasm, challenges inappropriate behaviour)
Day to Day
Managing the production process of economic statistics through co-ordinating survey teams and/or compiler areas to ensure internal, national and international data deliveries are made on time and to a high standard.
Analyse and interpret data to understand movements, draw on a wide range of sources to develop a narrative, and identify and address issues in data processes, systems and methods where they arise.
Clear communication with stakeholders through the appropriate channels and delivering key messages to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Effective planning to ensure teams are sufficiently resourced, timetables are set and quality assurance processes are adhered to throughout the production cycle.
Effective staff management and resource management (where applicable) – include building relationships.
Engage in and encourage a culture of curiosity to identify trends, stories and errors within statistics.
Ensuring their technical and analytical skills are kept up-to-date, and participating in and promoting (where relevant) continuous improvement.
