Website Accessibility Officer
- £23 - £26 per hour, inside IR35
- Fully remote working anywhere in the UK
- MUST HAVE experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Introduction
The Data Science Campus faculty team designs and delivers undergraduate and graduate-level equivalent training courses in R and Python hosted online for a diverse range of national and international audiences across the UK government and international statistics offices.
We require a front-end developer, technical tester/manager to conduct a web accessibility audit implementing web content accessibility guidelines, WCAG.
Background
The campus has a commitment to raising capability across the UK government and internationally. Central to this goal is designing courses that are inclusive and accessible to a range of audiences.
Project purpose
* Conduct a Web accessibility audit of online course materials against the international WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard.
* Help design guidance and a checklist for accessibility to be used by faculty team in course development and quality assurance.
* Contribute to implementing web accessibility guidance in our courses.
* Develop an accessibility road map detailing how our team can meet accessibility standards, including highlighting opportunities to improve the accessibility of our course materials.
* An accessibility statement that explains how accessible our online materials are.
* Help design and customise accessible web design elements for training (CSS, html), including course branding.
* Help design and review specifications for the course home pages on our learning platform.
Outcomes of the project
* A detailed audit to see if the content and functionality of the course materials is WCAG 2.1 AA compliant.
* Accessibility guidance and checklist to be used in course development and quality assurance included automated checks where possible.
* An accessibility road map detailing how our team can meet accessibility standards, including highlighting opportunities to improve the accessibility of our course materials.
* An accessibility statement that explains how accessible our online materials are.
* Improve online course materials compliance in meeting WCAG standards.
* Development of CSS and html course branding templates.
Responsibilities:
Upon completion of the assessment the client will need a detailed report setting out the analysis of the most resource effective and impactful solutions to deliver the outcomes. This report must include
* The feedback of value and impact to support the recommendations
* Any issues raised during the review that need addressing
* A timeframe for implementation of any recommended changes
* Any identified gaps in the available information influencing the recommendations
Relevant Skills and Experience:
1. Essential skills and experience
* Experience implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
* Experience working with CSS and html.
* Experience working with git and version control.
* Experience using automated testing. E

* Experience in learning and development.
