We are seeking a Solution Architect with a strong background in Unit4 and a deep understanding of strategic technology implementation. As an Architect you will be responsible for;

  • Hands-On Implementation: Actively participate in the design and implementation of solutions, ensuring they are aligned with best practices and operational needs.
  • Data Solutions: Assess our current data landscape, identify gaps, and implement strategies to improve data management and usability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, address challenges, and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Best Practices: Provide guidance on what constitutes “good” in terms of data architecture and solution design, ensuring that our solutions are scalable and sustainable.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations within our technology landscape.

As a Solutions Architect you will have the following experience;

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, specifically with Unit4 implementation and management.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and management best practices, particularly in the public sector.
  • Ability to think strategically while also being hands-on in problem-solving and solution development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in addressing data challenges and implementing solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relevant certifications in architecture or data management are a plus.

Senior Geodesy Specialist

Our public sector client is looking for a Senior Geodesy Specialist to join the Terrestrial Science Data Team to provide geodetic technical advice to the organisation, and wider community. You will be responsible for the supervision of the analysis and processing of geodetic and survey data into a range of databases for onward use in the products and services; preparing and delivering geodetic training to other staff.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in a hydrographic or geodetic environment and applying those relevant skills
  • Knowledge of coordinate reference systems and map projections.
  • Experience working with GIS software
  • An understanding of the operational significance of the Geodetic Data for Hydrographic Surveying
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Data analysis and IT coding skills
  • Business Process Improvement Methodologies. i.e. Business Analysis, LEAN, DMAIC

Day to Day

Provide geodetic technical advice and support to chart production and projects

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coordinate reference systems and their use within GIS systems; with particular emphasis on file format e.g. GeoTIFF, for the transfer of graphical data between GIS systems, notably ArcMap and CARIS in addition to investigating geodetic requirements for newly adopted GIS systems

Assist in the validation and appraisal of the geodetic content of incoming hydrographic surveys and provide support to survey teams as and when required.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of positioning system developments to ensure the organisation remains fully aware of the new developments and their impacts.

Lead as Magnetics POC for the organisation, communicating with external stakeholders and maintaining expertise to support and communicate Magnetic information changes around the office.

This is a technical position, which includes the functional, operational and management responsibility for the Technical team together with personal contributions to technical deliveries and outcomes in support of the Technology Division and Corporate Plan objectives.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience of line management and staff development within a technical support environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to produce reports and give presentations at an organisation wide level
  • Report and documentation skills to set out information in a concise and logical manner
  • Planning and organisational skills to effectively deliver requirements
  • Experience managing IT service delivery teams within an ITIL Service Management environment
  • Experience working with and managing outsourced IT services providers including experience of managing the integration of third party COTS and third party developed solutions into an existing infrastructure.
  • Strong hands-on skills of the following technical skills/competences: networking principles and best practice, client/server principles and best practice, Microsoft Server (operating systems and hardware), MS Exchange, Linux Operating Systems, Internet and external communications technologies, Virtualisation solutions (VMware), IT Security technologies, System Management Tools (i.e. SCOM, Altiris, SolarWinds, etc.). Comfortable working at the detailed level in complex technical environments.
  • Experience of Cloud Computing design and delivery.

Day to Day

  • Managing a multi-discipline technical team in order to deliver against day-to-day operational objectives (Requests, Changes and Projects) and key project action plans.
  • Addressing day-to-day escalations, functional and line management issues for the team and project staff.
  • Contribute to the management of the Technology Operations budget, including forecasting & planning with delegated authority for identified cost centres.
  • Responsible for the development of the team in order to deliver improved management or functional capability
  • Identifying and delivering against strategic direction for the group in-line with wider Technology Division strategy as agreed with Head of Technology Operations.
  • Working with Head of Technology Operations on delivery of cultural transformation and operational performance within the Technical Systems department.
  • Deputise for the Head of Technology Operations where required.
