Are you an experienced Senior SQL DBA looking for your next assignment? My client is a NHS organisation based in London. They require a skilled DBA to join their team for an initial 3 month assignment. This role is outside of IR35, hybrid working and starting ASAP.

The role:

To work with the team as an experienced Advanced SQL Database Administrator to be responsible for creating and supporting the SQL Farm and improving the availability and resilience of the IT Infrastructure. The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Expertise required:

  1. Performance Tuning and Optimization:
  • Analysing and optimizing database performance using SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs).
  • Implementing indexing strategies, query optimization, and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
  1. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
  • Designing and implementing high availability solutions such as SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Database Mirroring.
  • Setting up and maintaining disaster recovery plans, including database backups, log shipping, and point-in-time recovery.
  1. Security Management:
  • Ensuring database security through user roles, permissions, and encryption techniques.
  • Implementing auditing and compliance measures to meet regulatory requirements.
  1. Automation and Scripting:
  • Automating routine tasks and maintenance using PowerShell, T-SQL scripts, and SQL Server Agent Jobs.
  • Developing scripts to automate the deployment of database changes and monitor database health.
  • Dashboard Implementation for all SQL farms for monitoring performance and issues
  1. Database Design and Architecture:
  • Involved in database schema design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
  • Collaborating with developers especially BI team to design efficient and scalable database solutions.
  1. Capacity Planning and Monitoring:
  • Forecasting future database growth and resource needs.
  • Setting up monitoring tools and alerts for database health and performance.
  1. Data Integration and ETL Processes:
  • Designing and managing ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Ensuring data integrity and consistency across different systems.
  1. Upgrades and Patching:
  • Planning and executing SQL Server upgrades and applying patches.
  • Testing and validating the impact of upgrades on applications and performance.
  1. Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Providing advanced support for complex database issues.
  • Analysing and resolving incidents related to database availability, integrity, and performance
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Working closely with development teams, network administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicating complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  1. Documentation and Standards:
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and policies.
  • Establishing and enforcing database standards and best practices.
  1. Knowledge Transfer:
  • Staying updated with the latest SQL Server features, tools, and best practices.
  • Participating in knowledge transfer, team workshops, and providing professional development activities.

My Professional Services client based in London are looking for a BI Consultant to support them in bridging the gap between business needs and data insights. This role involves collaborating with their Operations team, understanding their strategic objectives, and leveraging our BI tools and techniques to provide actionable information that drives decision-making and supports business growth. Proficient in Excel, and experience using power-query to access real-time data
Proficiency in relevant BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SSRS) and SQL.
Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of Tableau and Databricks, along with related technologies for data processing, visualization, and collaboration.
Experience with data modeling, ELT processes, and data warehousing is a plus.
